Football and Content Creator share the lowest entry pay at ?2,400. The weekly column also shows why a bigger shift payment does not always mean a bigger week: DJ pays more per level 5 shift than Tech, but works four days instead of five.

The Jobs panel labels shifts “1-hour shifts, any time”. In practice, Go to work is available from 06:00 until before 22:00 on a working game day, as long as today's shift is not done and your Sim is not working, travelling, jailed or seriously sick. A full shift is 60 game minutes, not a real-world hour.
Use the work button, not the venue's opening hours. Start times in the career data and leisure opening hours at the venue do not decide when the button is available — a Teaching worker does not have to wait for The Library's nightlife window, for example.
Every job level and its promotion requirement
Every level after entry needs 100% work performance plus the listed career skill. Skill levels 1, 3, 5 and 7 unlock job levels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Learning the skill on its own does not promote you — the game checks both conditions when a shift is settled. Use the filters to narrow the list.

Apply, start work and check your pay
- Open Phone ? Jobs, choose the career and tap Apply — start tomorrow.
- Confirm the job title and your next shift in the Jobs panel.
- On a working day, tap Go to work. The game's help says it appears from 6 AM and sends your Sim straight to work.
- Finish the shift and read the summary: payment, tax, performance and any promotion notice.
Going to work also deducts up to ?150 for transport from your balance, so allow for it when you compare the full wallet change with the base wage.
If the button is missing, check the day, the game clock, whether today's shift is already done, and whether your Sim is travelling, in a cell or seriously sick. The beginner guide has the full checklist.
Why your payment differs from the table
- You ended the shift early: the payout can be reduced.
- You earned a task bonus: winning at least four work tasks activates the configured 15% Employee of the Shift bonus.
- A city wage policy is active: the minimum wage raise adds 15% while that policy is in force.
- Tax is due: eligible weekly earnings above the allowance are taxed — see how the in-game tax works.
- You were promoted during settlement: the summary can show your new title while the shift you just finished was paid at the previous level.
The game applies bonuses and deductions with rounding, so treat the tables as a base reference and use Bank plus the shift summary to understand what you actually received.
Change careers without an unexpected pay cut
Use the Jobs panel's switch option and read the confirmation carefully. The new career starts at level 1 with reset work performance — reaching level 5 somewhere else does not carry over. Your trained skill can help you clear later promotion gates faster, but it does not skip the entry level.
You keep one formal career at a time. Extra income comes from side gigs and owned businesses, which pay through their own systems — they are not extra career shifts.
